We
are proud of being English - and of being an English-centric
organisation. The people of England are some of the most driven
and creative anywhere in the world. We have given so much
to the world that sometimes we forget what a vital contributor
to global progress England has been. Of the UN list of the
top 100 inventions which have most benefited the human race,
England, the 97th largest country by area came second behind
China. In short, England is creative central and we want to
once again see our country flourish and grow, culturally,
socially and economically for the benefit of all.
For England to achieve these goals - goals which every other
country in the world also aspires to, we believe we must have
our own English Parliament once again reinstated. For too
long, the administration at Westminster, the UK parliament
has abjectly failed to act in the best interests of English
people. The result is that the people of England have been
ignored, marginalised and democratically disenfranchised.
Administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have
been calling the tune while we in England continue to pay
the piper. This has to stop.
It is now clear that New Labour's asymmetric devolution project
has been a disaster for the democratic process in England.
While the people of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland revel
in both UK and own country national representation, in England
we have no one fighting our cause. All English MPs at Westminster
seem wedded to preserving the British state at the expense
of England and her inhabitants. While people in England are
denied life-saving cancer drugs, in other home countries they
are given out like sweets. While students in England have
to pay a £3,000 annual tuition fees, in Scotland, students
go to university for free. As old people in England are routinely
forced to sell their houses to fund their residential care,
in Scotland and Wales the costs are met by their national
administrations - and they get to keep their homes to pass
on to their relations.
In every aspect of our lives in England we are being persecuted
and abused by an uncaring Westminster administration. In England
we receive the least public spending per head of any of the
four home nations. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each
benefit from a block Barnett Formula grant of billions.
Thankfully there are organisations around which you can join
to help with the fight for England that are fighting for the
rights of England and the English. The English Democrats are
a political party who regularly stand for election at European,
national and local levels. The Campaign for an English Parliament
(The CEP) is a pressure group which takes the fight for the
rights of the English to the heart of the political establishment.
To make sure that these issues are heard by our Politicians,
WEU has a political fund (please see rule book for details).
The money is collected from our members' monthly contribution
and is donated towards the political and non-political organisations
that are actively campaigning for an English Parliament and
English representation. Each member has a choice - they can
decide whichEnglish cause they wish to allocate their contribution.
When completing the forms, please tick the appropriate box.
St George's Day
The WEU believes that the people of England should, just like
virtually every other country throughout the world celebrate
our own patron saint. We want a national public holiday throughout
England on or about the 23rd April. We also wish to promote
a positive and inclusive understanding of English culture
which has given so much to the world.
