Coronavirus – COVID 19

The situation concerning COVID 19 is very fluid and is changing by the hour. We are monitoring Public Health England for the latest information.

If there are specific issues with your employer then please get in touch, if you show symptoms as stated by Public Health England for COVID 19 then self isolation is a necessity, not an option, to stop the spread to your work colleagues, friends, family, and customers.

During these difficult times the WEU as been answering your enquiries, both by phone calls and emails.

Please remember the following:

1.      Under Section 2 Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 the company are required to  ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all their employees, and clients.

2.      Under Section 7 Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 an employee is to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.

3.      Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Act 1999, the company also must make a suitable and sufficient assessment of—

(a) the risk to the health and safety of his employees to which they are exposed whilst they are at work;

and

(b) the risk to the health and safety of persons not in his employment arising out of or in connection with the conduct by him of his undertaking.
