The Workers of England Union offers support to its representatives and organisers from grassroots level upwards. Our structure is democratic and member-strategic, and can thus offer the highest standards of support to each and every member. In our union, we believe each individual member's needs and aspirations are paramount. We are entirely focused on realising the goals of each individual in their working lives.
The national union structure is based around our traditional English counties. In order to aid effective organisational accountability, each county has its own union representative and council chapter. Each new member is automatically assigned to the county chapter where they live. The role of the county representative is to assist in local negotiations and to provide an immediate point of reference to the workplace representative.
WEU members can become WEU work place representatives (also known as shop stewards). These members are given free training so they can offer effective support & advice to fellow WEU members in their workplace.
The executive council meets every two months and there is a union Annual National Meeting where members can raise points of order and policy change suggestions. These points will then be carried for further discussion at the Executive council meetings. |
