Membership Information – Part time employees

Dear Workers of England Union Member

I am very pleased to be able to write to you about our many successes, not only in dealing with members’ grievances and disciplinary matters in helping our members with difficulties that arise with employers in which our excellent representatives are far more often successful than could be expected, but also we have been often successful in the Tribunal cases which we have supported members in going through.

We have successfully defended our members’ philosophical beliefs.

We have brought cases relating to disability discrimination, religious belief and innumerable cases of unfair dismissal.

We have been winning cases in the Employment Tribunals, in the Employment Appeal Tribunal and even in the Court of Appeal.

However protecting our members’ rights does not come cheap and at our EGM on the 6th October, and given the recent budget announced by the government, we had to bow to the need to raise our subscription rates to £7.95 per month for part-time employees from 1st January 25 (if pricing had kept pace with inflation the price would have gone to £8.97, however we have kept it below the rate of inflation.)

Although I would rather that this was not necessary, it is nevertheless well below the rate of inflation and still means that your Union is charging a subscription that is below almost all other Unions, whilst offering a much more professional service to our members in need.

As a Union we, of course, do not make any profit and are entirely focussed on trying to look after our members in dealing with their employers.

The revised direct debits will be taken on your usual monthly date.

I hope that you will understand and continue to support your Union, and for our part we pledge to continue to support you with professional independent representation in your workplace.

Yours sincerely

Stephen Morris

General Secretary
