Short Update
We have some fantastic news that we wanted to share with you. Please read this brief update:
Case Background
Tracy Webb, a veteran London Underground manager, was dismissed after she condemned Black Lives Matter and George Floyd on social media. Tracy—who is white, in a civil partnership with two mixed-race children from a previous relationship, and an army veteran—managed an ethnically diverse team of 250 workers. Despite serving London Underground for 32 years, she was sacked as Duty Trains Manager in February 2021 for what the employer called “offensive and inflammatory” posts.
On Facebook, Tracy wrote:
“Never deserved to be murdered by a police man. But… really was not a nice guy,”
“On 22 May 2013, no-one rioted in the UK when two black men hacked Lee Rigby to death. It’s time to bring back the death penalty. Where were you all then? All lives matter.”
Tribunal Outcome
In a landmark decision, the Employment Tribunal ruled that her dismissal was unfair. Tracy Webb was represented—and robustly defended—by the Workers of England trade union. The union’s success means Tracy will now receive compensation for her unfair dismissal.
Significance of the Victory
This is a major victory for Tracy, the union, and for English justice! Finally, there is a union dedicated to defending the workers of England against “Cancel Culture.”
