Key Announcement
The government has published its official consultation response titled Revoking Vaccination as a Condition of Deployment Across All Health and Social Care: Consultation Response. This document outlines the rationale and evidence supporting the removal of the mandatory vaccination requirement for regulated activities.
Legislative Changes
Two major statutory instruments will be repealed on 15 March 2022:
- Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) (Coronavirus) Regulations 2021
- Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) (Coronavirus) (No.2) Regulations 2022
Implications for Staff and Employers
By removing the mandatory vaccination condition, the government aims to:
- Protect frontline staff’s right to personal choice;
- Maintain high standards of patient and service-user safety through existing infection control measures;
- Support recruitment and retention across the health and social care sectors.
